It’s October! I love the cool, crisp air and the beautiful colors of Autumn! The beauty of this time of year just makes me feel more joyful overall. And it’s also football season!
I did not finish all the
books on my September TBR list, but I made good progress.
The first book I read
this past month, was Once Upon an Irish Summer by Lisa T Bergren.
This was another exciting story, written by a master storyteller who seamlessly
wove culture, history, romance, and danger through these pages. This story was
a true treasure. I fell in love with the characters and setting. My favorite
part was the reference to characters from former beloved stories by this author.
4.8/5 overall
The second book I read
was the first book in the Cutter’s Creek series, The Healing Touch
by Kit Morgan. The story was a sweet, quick read with beautiful words of truth.
The romance seemed to happen a little fast, but not too quickly. I look forward
to reading more in this series. 4.3/5 overall
The third book I completed in the month of September was the thirteenth book in the Hardy Boy’s mystery series: The Mark on the Door. I was not a fan of this fast-paced mystery where too much happened but not enough at the same time. The chapters leading to the end were filled with events that never seemed to properly connect for me. The mystery was resolved too quickly in the last few pages. 2/5 stars overall.
The final book for September was Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan. I do not often read middle grade stories, especially those with boys as the main character, but I was gifted this book for my birthday, and I am so glad my best friend shared it with me. It has become an instant favorite of mine. The book spans the lives of 4 young people who encountered individual struggles and victories during the second World War. The main characters’ paths do not cross until the end of the story where the author reveals how each of their tales are interconnected. While reading, I learned details about this period in history I never knew. The characters are easy to connect with and root for. At first, I as concerned that the cliff hangers of each story would not be resolved, but the conclusion of the book did not disappoint. 5/5 stars is not enough. I hear the audio book is even better. I am already researching more books by this author!
